The park spans over 585 acres of land and provides visitors with an opportunity to explore the history of Alabama.

The Bibb County in Alabama has 486 acres of land that serves as the site of the 1976 commission of the Alabama Historic Ironworks. It is situated along the Little Cahaba River and features various industrial ruins, historic buildings, hiking trails, and campsites. Tourists can also visit the Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in Tuscaloosa County, which measures 2,063 acres and was established in 1969 by the same commission.
