Discover the Most Stunning Parks to Explore in Nevada

A diverse group of visitors left their feedback on several state parks in Nevada. Peggy_A_ had an amazing weekend at Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, exploring with their quads and visiting other nearby attractions. The Ichthyosaur Tour provided an excellent educational experience, and the campground offered ample elbow room and stunning views. The informative hiking trails and knowledgeable Rangers added to the overall satisfaction of the visit. Margaret_F enjoyed the location of Dayton State Park, with its flushing toilets, residential peacocks, and stunning trees that were a half-hour drive from Tahoe and Washoe Lake, and just ten minutes from Virginia City, even though it's close to the road. Alandra_M had a great experience visiting Lake Tahoe State Park and was particularly impressed by the helpfulness and respect of park staff member Ms. Esmeralda. Marisol had an enjoyable stay at Cathedral Gorge State Park's campground, and SC Baker, Col. US Army, Retired wrote about their disappointment with the tattered and torn American flag that is being flown at the Forest Service Office in Wells, NV. We ventured out for a Labor Day weekend exploration, staying from September 1 to 3. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the wonderful Mr. Ben Johnson, who showed us such warm hospitality and helped make our camping trip unforgettable. Though the campground was fully booked, Ben managed to get us two overflow sites, making our stay even more magical. Cathedral Gorge left us spellbound with its breathtaking beauty, and we enjoyed an exhilarating hike. Later, we visited the awe-inspiring Lehman Cave, which is a must-visit site. The restroom facilities were impeccable - crystal clean with functioning showers, and even flushing toilets! Thank you again, Mr. Ben Johnson, for your kindness and hospitality. We highly recommend this place to anyone seeking the splendor of Northern Nevada.

On October 15, 2016, Susie wrote about her disappointment with Beaver Dam State Park. She visited in 2005 when the dam was still there, but on her return in 2016, everything was abandoned and overgrown, with the reservoir completely gone. During her visit, she spotted only three snakes. Previously, the place had abundant wildlife and birds, and it was a beautiful site to behold.

Jon Zumwalt wrote about his desire to fish at Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge. Although the place is toxin-filled, he believes it would be better to open it for catch and release fishing only. Fishermen who possess a valid Nevada Fishing license should be allowed to fish in places governed by Fish and Wildlife.

Lake Tahoe State Park received some harsh criticism from SMonk, who believed that the park should be ashamed of themselves. This came after the park rangers killed a 2-year-old bear that suffered due to human carelessness. SMonk was of the opinion that the bear should have been tranquilized and relocated instead of being killed. In his estimation, the park rangers were nothing but killers.

Carol C. expressed her concern about the damage to the Tunnel Creek trail due to people cutting across the switchbacks. She suggested putting up signs to prevent further damage.
